Fabricator

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and shipbuilding instructions.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and fit steel and other metals using tools.
• Fabricate ship structures such as hull plates, frames, decks, and bulkheads.
• Perform fitting and tack welding to prepare components for final welding.
• Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, cutting torches, and bending machines.
• Ensure all fabricated components meet dimensional accuracy and safety standards.
• Work closely with welders and engineers to meet project schedules.
• Follow shipyard safety rules and maintain a clean work area.

Requirements

• Experience in shipbuilding or heavy metal fabrication is required.
• Ability to work in a shipyard environment and handle heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in using various hand and power tools for metalwork.

Required Skills

• Expertise in interpreting technical drawings and ship blueprints.
• Skilled in metal cutting, shaping, and fitting techniques.
• Strong understanding of shipyard safety and quality control standards.
