- We are seeking a dedicated and organized Library Assistant to support the daily operations of the University Library. This role is essential in maintaining an environment conducive to study and research, ensuring that students and faculty have seamless access to our extensive collection of academic resources.
- Roles & Responsibilities:
- Resource Management: Assist in the cataloging, shelving, and organization of books, journals, and digital resources to ensure easy retrieval.
- User Support: Provide frontline assistance to students and faculty, helping them navigate library databases and locate specific research materials.
- Circulation Services: Manage the check-in and check-out process for library materials using the integrated library system (ILS).
- Collection Maintenance: Monitor the physical condition of the library collection and assist in the processing of new acquisitions.
- Administrative Tasks: Support the Librarian in administrative duties, including maintaining records, managing library memberships, and processing fines or fees.
- Environment Oversight: Ensure the library remains a quiet and orderly space for all users, monitoring study areas and computer labs.
- Requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree is required; specialization in Library and Information Science is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with digital library databases and cataloging systems.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English to interact effectively with a diverse academic community.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a customer-service-oriented mindset.
- Availability: Must be able to work on-site at the Dubai International Academic City campus.
