Job Description
The Store Buyer - FMCG will be a skilled professional responsible for managing and executing procurement activities for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) within the supermarket/retail environment. The role requires extensive experience in local sourcing and purchasing to ensure optimal inventory and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for assigned FMCG categories.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with local suppliers to secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and consumer demand to make informed buying decisions.
- Ensure timely replenishment of stock to maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing wastage.
- Collaborate with the store operations and merchandising teams to ensure products are correctly received, stored, and displayed.
- Develop and maintain strong, effective relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree is required.
- 5-10 years of experience in local procurement or purchasing specifically within the supermarket or retail sector.
- Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Strong analytical skills for demand forecasting and inventory control.
- Knowledge of local supplier base and retail operational flow.
