Job Description
The Steward is an essential member of the culinary team, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organization within all kitchen and heart-of-house areas. This role supports the smooth and efficient operation of all food and beverage services by maintaining equipment, washing and storing utensils, and ensuring a safe, organized environment for the entire team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining areas, and back-of-house operations.
- Wash, clean, and properly store dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and utensils.
- Ensure proper use and care of dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment.
- Collect and dispose of garbage and recycling; maintain the cleanliness of all waste areas.
- Restock kitchen supplies such as cutlery, plates, and glassware as needed.
- Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation and moving supplies.
- Ensure strict compliance with all health, hygiene, and safety standards.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, shortages, or breakages to the supervisor.
- Support banquet or event setups by ensuring adequate supplies are available.
What You Bring
- A minimum of at least 1 year of experience in a similar role in a luxury brand hotel.
- High level of understanding and knowledge of Stewarding operations.
- Knowledge of basic hygiene, sanitation, and safety practices.
- An outgoing personality and a can-do approach to assigned tasks.
- Proficient in English (speaking, reading, writing).
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness and organization.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items; stand and walk for long periods.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
