We are seeking a dedicated Commis Chef to specialize in the Sushi section of our kitchen. This role requires foundational knowledge of Japanese cuisine, precision in rice and fish preparation, and strict adherence to food safety and hygiene protocols. You will support the higher-ranking chefs in preparing ingredients, rolling sushi, and maintaining the cleanliness of the sushi station.
- Responsibilities:
- Prepare, measure, and assemble all components required for the sushi menu, including rice, fish, vegetables, and garnishes.
- Assist the senior sushi chefs with rolling, cutting, and plating sushi and sashimi dishes.
- Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and organization at the sushi station, particularly concerning raw fish handling.
- Monitor inventory levels for sushi ingredients and communicate stocking needs.
- Follow all instructions from the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef.
- Requirements:
- Basic experience in a professional kitchen, preferably with exposure to Japanese or pan-Asian cuisine.
- Proficiency in knife skills and basic food preparation techniques.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn complex culinary arts.
